Sales Closing Checklist

Run every sale through these steps before the customer leaves. A clean close protects the customer, your commission, and the store.

1 Before the Sale

Test the appliance in front of the customer or confirm it was tested. Never sell an untested unit as tested.

Point out any cosmetic damage and note it on the sale. No surprises = no returns.

Confirm the correct price — full price vs. special/discounted. This determines the warranty (see step 3).

2 Delivery & Pickup

Delivery or "You Haul It"? Confirm and record which one. Affects warranty coverage — especially fridges & front-loaders.

Collect full delivery address + gate code if being delivered.

Set delivery date/time and confirm it with the customer.

Explain the warranty starts on the delivery/pickup date — not first use. Tell them to test it right away.

3 Warranty

State the correct warranty out loud based on price & delivery. Full price + our delivery = 1 Year Parts & Labor. Special/discounted = 90 days. "You Haul It" = shorter terms.

Make sure the receipt shows the correct warranty. Whatever is on the receipt is what the customer gets — it overrides everything.

Never promise a warranty you didn't file. Warranty claims go through the official Warranty Request form only.

4 Payment & Paperwork

Process payment and confirm the method is recorded correctly.

Give the customer their receipt and make sure they keep it. It's their proof of warranty.

Log the sale in the system with the correct salesperson name.

5 Before They Leave

Recap what they bought, the price, delivery details, and warranty in plain terms.

Give them the store contact info for questions or warranty claims.

Thank them and invite them back. Referrals are the cheapest advertising we have.
